Bedroom mantle and bookcases.  Closet is through the doorway to right.
Doors for one of the closet units.  These are made of VG fir, including the panel.
Completed closed unit.  The top cabinets are lined with aromatic cedar.  The backs and end panels are pine bead board.  The finish is shellac - 1 part Ruby + 3 parts Garnet.
Unfinished built-in chest.  The case was built in two interlocking sections. Both sit on a ladder frame that was leveled before they were installed.  (Old houses can have VERY out-of-level floors!) The face frame will be VG fir with bead detail. (Sorry I cant post pics of the finished product - my day job sometimes gets in the way of what I really like to do...)
Drawers are dove tailed back (through dove tails) and front.  They are mounted on wood slides. Fronts are VG fir, secondary wood is poplar. Fronts are finished with shellac, the insides have two coats of wiping poly.

A work in progress.  I've finished the bedroom mantel and bookcases and two of the closet units. (My wife's shoe rack is not pictured.)  I'm still working on the built-in chest and I have a linen closet to go.

Congratulations!

There is no stain. The finish is shellac. I mixed my own; I used 3 parts garnet to 1 part ruby, dewaxed flakes in a 1-1/2 lb cut applied with a natural bristle brush. I didn't keep an exact count, but there are at least seven coats. I did this to try to match the existing wood work in the house. Also, I love the look of a shellac finish! Of course for a kitchen, shellac isn't the finish of choice.

Can I ask what kind of stain and finish you used?
