This table features a 12 piece bookmatched field in Indonesian Madrone burl with a border of Birch burl (also booked all the way around) all wrapped in solid Bubinga.  The base is solid Maple with Bubinga onlays.

jptenberg jptenberg writes: I used a piece of 3/4" blank veneer core ply. The inner is plies and there is a thin skin of mdf on each side. Nice and flat and won't sag like 3/4" mdf will on such a big piece. It also holds screws well.
