I saw this design in an article written by Gary Rogowski in the Nov/Dec. 1999 issue of FWW.  My version includes different dimensions, ebony pegs at the corner lap joints and bubinga for the main wood.  The bottom is maple to give a light effect when the box is opened. The finish is shellac on the inside,  shellac washcoat on the outside followed with Waterlox over that.  The box is a joy to make because of all the handplaning involved to shape the sides and top.  It is an excellent way to develop hand tool skills.
