My son's first woodworking project

A little bench for a very little guy. This is a my son's first woodworking project. It's a workbench for his favorite baby. Now he wants one for himself.

My son and I went to a not-so-local woodworking store this past Saturday, and when we got back we spent some time in my shop. He loves to be in there. As I was going about my business (I'm starting to make a crosscut sled), my son was at my bench stacking wood and preteding to cut. He then asked if we could build a table for his baby. I asked what kind of table and he said, "Like your workbench." So I got out some poplar scraps, my sawhook, and backsaw. I helped him cut some legs, and then glue and screw them to a top. Lickity-split we had a little bench. He loves it. And I greatly enjoyed making it with him. The best news? Now he wants to make a little bench for him to use in the shop. He asked me about it around 500 times the rest of the weekend! I guess I know what I'll be doing soon.

I've got the perfect bench to serve double duty as a great toddler bench (complete with a vise), and also serve as a very adaptable saw bench. My son (18 months) uses it all the time as a workbench and if I ask nicely, I can use it when I need to rip something.
