Liz's Shelves

Next in the furniture for the daughters series. This daughter was intererested in a Roycroft design of some shelves. The basic Roycroft idea is totally lost here, but the slanted sides of the Roycroft allowed a lot of visibility to what is going to be on the sheves. They are meant as display shelves, so a lot of visibiltiy is what I was going after. These are quarter sawn white oak, dyed with aniline dye and finished with 4 coats of poly/oil, two coats of oil/wax/and then wax. I was really tempted to use the ammonia trick to darken the oak, but couldn't figure out how I might do it safely and without offending the neighbors.
