For the last two years I've judged the Vermont Wood Manufacturers Association show in Woodstock, Vermont. Last year it was limited to high school students but this year is a repeat of 2008 and also includes professional woodworkers based in Vermont. As well as getting your work in front of local and regional customers, there is also the possibility of getting your work in Fine Woodworking Magazine. In 2008 I spotted a beautiful tabletop dresser and mirror by Josh Metcalf. Among the joinery were two types of mitered dovetail which will be featured as a Master Class in the July/August issue of the magazine. OK, so we don't deal in instant gratification, but James Platteter only had to wait seven months to see his spice box appear in the Readers Gallery of the last issue.
