I'm living in Vienna/Austria in an apartment-house (Not in Alabama ... had to choose a state ... required field).
The workshop is in the 8th floor (my apartment has 3 floors from 6th to 8th floor).
There's not really much space, so just a bandsaw, a workbench (5 ft) and mostly handtools.
German to English (Photo 1: "Plan"):
Hobelbank ... workbench
Ablagebretter ... storage for the planes
Waschmuschel ... wash basin
Bandsäge ... bandsaw
Stauraum ... storage
The smaller the workshop, the more dispensable tools you throw away ;-)
Use it for woodworking and woodturning (small JET with extension)

Semi-Permanent Bench Grinder Mount
Threaded inserts keep grinder locked-down, but easily movable.
My work table often pulls double- and triple-duty for tons of shop tasks. Most often it's sharpening, but I also use it for drilling, holding bench hooks and shooting boards and occassionally as a chop-saw station. Hopefully soon, it will also hold a midi-lathe. First I used this box and a vacuum-cleaner: http://www.guenterra.at/Handwerken/Werkzeug_Staubsaugerzwischenbehaelter.htm
The problem: One always put things on a box, so it was too much work to empty it.
That's the new one:

Many water-pipes, hot glue. The thin pipe to the vacuum-cleaner has to be shorter than the incoming pipe (inside the big pipe).
Works fine, spare parts are easy to purchase and it's easy to empty.

I'm trying to adapt a sawdust-disposal device. I would like to know how did you do that. I have very similar space restrictions as you have (a half of a small room).
