Contemporary Entertainment Center
comments (0) December 6th, 2008 in The GalleryThis entertainment center was my first foray into working with plywood and pocket-hole joinery.
This piece is the central component. The plans also come with details for matching side stands and optional doors for the main unit.
The carcase was assembled primarily with pocket-hole (screw) joinery. The top is edge-joined solid maple.
The finish is 4-5 coats of sprayed niotrocellulose lacquer including one coat of sanding sealer, right off the gun (no rub-out).
Aside from experiencing how tricky it can be to handplane hard maple, this was a fun project that didn't cost much and was completed in about a week.
