humidor

This is a humidor I made from scraps in my shop left over from years of making furniture, boxes, and guitars. The main wood is Honduran Mahogany I acquired from a bin at PAL lumber in San Francisco. Butterfly keys on mitered corners are made from a table I found in the street, and other parts are from dumpsters outside Handloggers in Richmond California (purple heart and some kind of Mahogany). The top and tray contain oak salvaged from a set of stairs I demo'd while working on a remodel job at an elementary school near Burlingame California several years ago. I also used that wood to build my bed, which came out quite nice. I guess I could have entered that too. Most of my work involves recycling and using scraps. The humidor is a few years old and has some wear, and is finished with deft oil (I think), or a french polish, or maybe both. I lined the inside with unfinished Spanish cedar, which along with the Brusso hardware and quadrant hinges, was all I actually bought for this project. I burned a Celtic knot on the top-which i learned to design on the internet. This is a heavy duty humidor and holds 2-3 boxes of cigars. I'd like to replace the hydrometer with a better one some day since these are the cheapest ones they sell at Beverages and More.
