Dangerous Woodshop Gets NBC Cameo

Nick Offerman’s character on the NBC show Parks and Recreation obviously missed our recent post about shop fire dangers: 10 Ways to Avoid Shop Fires. In a recent episode, his character Ron Swanson tries to get his danger-laden workshop past a city inspector citing 28 violations.
Woodshop no-nos included wadded up oil soaked rags, an open wood-burning stove, hazardous chemicals, an expired fire extinguisher, shoddy electrical work, and more.
A big-ol' canoe also appeared in the show--I'm assuming it's Offerman's since he's apparently made his own. He even wrote about his building odyssey.
Kudos to Offerman for getting woodworking more play in mainstream media. Hope that his real-world workshop is a lot safer than his character’s on TV.
