This is a custom designed and carved top jewelry box made on a commission basis for the daughter of a good friend.  It is primarily walnut but has mahogany and maple accents.  The top carvings are placed on a background of bird’s eye maple.  It was colored using a golden oak stain and two coats of an amber colored linseed oil.  I than applied three coats of Arma-Sel wipe on varnish and one coat of paste wax.
