My daughter wanted something to hold her jewelry but she didn't want just a box. I made an outline of her arm, hand, and fingers on paper. I cut those out and applied them to some scrap cherry. Then I cut the cherry on a band saw. I cut slots in the base for the arm and slots in the hand for the fingers and arm. The fingers and arm were too thin for mechanical fasteners so I then glued them together. I used three coats of Waterlox as the finish, no stain. The fingers hold not only rings but necklaces, too. Glass cups (not shown) in the base and palm of the hand hold earrings, etc.
