Steps made to allow easier access to bed due to it's hieght and my Grandson's hieght. Both lids have friction adjustable stays, piano hinges, and finger clearance was designed into lid/sides & fronts closing point. Two seperate storage compartments, one under each step. Two cherry blocks limit top lid opening. Beautiful grain and unique storage for some favorite toys. The inside was finished with shellac to help keep it clean and no lingering odor like a poly finish might have left
