The curved legs were cut on a bandsaw from a 3 piece glue up. The joinery is mortise with floating tenons.
The decorative gold detail on the base is gold painted poplar. After a red undercoat, three coats of oil based gold paint followed by shellac and two coats of water based poly.

The design for this hall table was inspired by a 1930 Art Deco table. It is mahogany, with a carved detail at the base. The real challange was the glue up for the curved legs. The curves were cut on a bandsaw. The legs are joined to the base with 1/2 inch dowels. The finish is water based dye, shellac (1 lb cut), and several coats of water based poly. The top is a frame and panel.
