I too am looking at some old growth pine for a farm table (dining table) and have some questions about how you achieved the look, especially of your table top. I have not found a lot of "helpful" resources online for working with reclaimed lumber, but hope you don't mind me asking here, even though the post is old.

1. What finish did you use on the top?
2. How did you prepare the face (sanding / planing)
3. How did you handle the sawn and chamfered edges to get it to match the "skin" of the face. I assume cutting or routing the boards would reveal the very bright inside of the pine (that hasn't weathered) yet the color of the edges and top is remarkably similar and fits the piece perfectly.

Thanks

The arts and crafts style wasn't necessarily my intention, but I do like that style. I usually start with a quick sketch and change things as I build, designing around the specific wood for that project. Thanks for the comment.
