Always something fun going on at Wilson & McCracken’s

This mantel is all new.  The details were coordinated with the existing paneling etc. Burl panels, carved leaves and 8” tall Doric columns with carved capitals make up the mantels legs. The mantel was a part of a much larger project which eventually touched almost every room in the house.

The mantel shelf has the same profile as the wainscot cap, and copes into it.  The front edge however is hand carved with a clam shell motif and the owners initial .”O”.

Close up of the posts.  The main turnings are stylized versions of the balusters Burl panels, carved leaves and 8” tall Doric columns with carved capitals.
