Bamboo Box for Friend
comments (3) December 25th, 2009 in Reader's Gallery
I built this box as a challenge to myself in the beginning. A member from another forum mentioned on a different box that the next time I make one I should try to match the grain at the miters on the top as well as the miters on all corners. It was a little tricky, but I got it figured out. I decided as I was making it that I should make it for a purpose other then a challenge. So I decided to theme it and give it to a friend. My friend is a coworker and is 54 years old. He is in great shape and loves to skateboard. Hopefully he likes it and uses it.
The box is made in bamboo with a padauk banding. The inlay is Texas Ebony and walnut. The hinges are Brusso Quadrant hinges
As always I welcome constructive criticism, positive or negative.

Is this a bamboo veneer or plywood? The padauk looks great as a banding and the inlay is beautiful. What worries me is a 54 year old skateboarding.
