I had every intention of installing hardware (hinges, lock, etc.) but the simplicity of the zebrawood lid with the apple handle (and the contrast of the grains) was too nice on its own to cut any further - I felt that less was more. I focused on making the lid fit perfectly and adding some complex shaped legs. Even the finish was a less-is-more thing - I had stains and poly standing by but boiled linseed oil with the right amount of sanding was right (I think). Hey... it's just a box - and it's meant to be used.

Of course, my wife, low these forty years, saw it and has that look of "And mine will be ready when?"
