Lidded Chest Jewelry Box
Birdseye Maple Lid, Cedar Box, Wenge Feet.
Bandsawn Box, Turned and angled feet, 95 degree brass hinges, lacquer finish.
The trays are vertical drawers. Made from the cut-outs. A lip of burled elm was added to form the trays depths. The pulls are of Cocobolo and can be used to hold rings.
In this view the bottom cut is visible barely. The cut into the end grain was not visible because it was made at the pointed corner (near the front), alined with the grain.

This was a very enjoyable project. Done is a single session, it required no measuring. I drew on the wood and started cutting. The box and lid were drawn and band-sawed. Additional shaping in the vertical axis was done on the belt sander. The interior was sanded clean and smooth on the drill press. The finish is lacquer, three coats with steel wool at the end and a coat of satin wax. The hinge installation was the most exacting part, but still with no measuring. Just mark and cut.
