C3D: chest of 3 drawers
comments (4) October 19th, 2009 in Reader's Gallery
Here's the first piece of furniture that I decided to not only design but also build on my own. It's a chest of drawers made of mostly solid maple hardwood. The design is based on a play of curves and circular forms. I'm happy with the design and process for this piece. However, if I had to change one thing, it would be the weight. It is extremely heavy as I can't even move it without the help of strong friends. I've since taken furniture-making workshops in fundamental techniques that should help the next time I decide to build my next custom design.
