This hanging wall shelf is a quick and satisfying weekend project. The design gains its inspiration from a drawing of a peg-hung Shaker shelf in Ejner Handberg's book Shop Drawings of Shaker Furniture and Woodenware, Vol. II with a few additional curves.

Sliding dovetails join the shelves to the curved, tapered sides. The Shakers housed the shelves in dadoes, rather than sliding dovetails, and you can do the same. It won't be as strong, but if you're worried about the shelves, you can toenail them from the bottom with finish nails or brads.

This wall shelf is designed to use simple brass hangers mortised into the second shelf from the top as an inexpensive and easy to install method assuring hanging the shelf is a snap.

Someone should do a little work on this site to get the links working seamlessly.
