Set of four boxes.

Family Box... Curly maple, with walnut top panel and Spanish cedar bottom.  Tray is leather lined.  Corner accents are ebony.

Line and Berry inlay of holly and red cedar in a walnut panel.

Label on bottom of box... hardware on box is from Brusso.

Early this year I was blessed with connecting with lost family - two sisters I had never met, and another I had not seen in over 40 years.  In celebration of the unification of our family, I made these four identical boxes, one for each of my sisters and myself.  Each of the woods used in the boxes came from a common piece of wood, symbolic of our common family tree.  The boxes are made of curly maple, walnut, Spanish cedar, and ebony, with inlay of holly and red cedar.  Hardware is from Brusso, and the interior tray is lined with leather.  Should we be further blessed with connecting with more of our siblings, I will gladly make more boxes!  And yes, I have now met my two younger sisters and I love both of them and my long lost older sister dearly!

The inlay design is adapted from traditional line and berry used in Chester County PA spice boxes... in my intepretation of it, each of the lines represents one of the four of us and our lives intersecting, and the berries represent our individual families.... ps - used the Lie Neilson (Steve Latta designed) inlay tools to do the work, but scratch stocks will work as well.
