kinda has that gumby look eh?
The bottom drawers had to be angled to flow with the curve of the cabinet
Neclace door
Pin hinges were best for this tight curve

This was a fun cabinet to make. I used 1/8 ribbon mahogany for laminated core with walnut veneer and maple edging. The drawers are solid maple with black velvet lining, they are but joints with walnut pins. The maple was just scrap meant for firewood so the color and grain aren't that pretty. The lower drawers are the two woods joined with dowels.

The pulls are walnut tapered for comfort. Hinges would have looked too clumsy so I went with maple pins and stainless sleeves. I had to modify the bottom of the door slightly with a cove on the back side because when it opens it drags down slightly catching the drawer below because the top of the curve hangs out further than the bottom.

The drawer slides are maple and each one had to be custom fit to match the curve and keep the drawers level, this was the most difficult and time consuming part of the project. It is finished with Tried and True Varnish oil.

Thanks for looking
