Rope Twist Bed

This is a queen sized pencil post bed. It is all made of black American walnut except for the headboard which I quartered walnut burl veneer. All of the radius pieces were made from thin laminates that I cold bent in forms. The applied molding to the headboard was also bent the same way and glued on. The headboard was mortised into the rope twisted posts. The half round molding on the sides and footboard are mortised and glued into the routed out slots, so no nails were needed. The rails and posts are connected through mortise and tennon and bed post bolts. The finish was seven coats of Mohawk's Pour-n-Wipe. All total I put in around 240 hours.
