Chippendale Arm Chair in cherry
comments (5) September 4th, 2009 in Reader's Gallery
I took two pictures of my favorite chairs from a Millers Antique Guide. One for the splat and the other for the leg and shell carvings. The dimensions are taken from an old rocking chair (very comfortable) that I found in the attic of a restoration shop I used to work in. The splat is curved to match the rocking chair. I used water stain, brown, red and yellow wich accepts the light very well and makes the grain jump out. When I went to pick it up at the upholstery shop they wouldn't take payment 'cause they loved the chair so much. Not happy with the arm supports so I am changing them now. Love this site though.
