Kent_Perdue Kent_Perdue writes: The doors are walnut, each a solid plank, about 5.5 by 14 inches. I used a small gouge to carve the entire surface. Then applied washes of different reds and oranges to make subtle color changes. I then clear coated it then once dry applied a mixture of black and a small bit of yellow to the entire surface. Then i wiped it off and repeated then semi glossed and buffed. The clear coat was to keep the black from penatrating the woods surface and the yellow was to lighten the black a little without looking grey.
