Rosewood, Ebony and Boxwood burial urn by Jim O'Donnell

This urn was a challenge.  I wanted to support the rosewood vessel with a three legged base.  My objective was to have the 3 pronged base "hold up" the vessel without the point of the rosewood touching the table surface.  The three pronged base represents the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  You can see that the top of the urn is sealed with a "kiss".

This piece was made with hand chased threads, into which I inlaid a boxwood blank from the U.K. to accept the ebony top finial.
