Spalt Your Own Lumber: Fungus of the month - Dead Man's Finger and Turkey Tail (part II)

Check the base of old hardwood stumps for Dead Mans Finger.

The side of this log is covered with Turkey Tail. In a hollow just below is the prize: Dead Mans Finger.
Shelf fungi will quickly overrun a log, using up most of the available nutrients. Theyll do the same thing in your spalting bins if youre not careful!
