Connor's Shelf

My wife recently became a godmother; she asked me whether I could build something for the little guy to be babtized. Well, here it is, though I did not quite stay in the time limit of two days....
Constructed from solid cherry with maple shiplapped back and drawer sides and back. The carcass sides are joined to top and bottom with stopped tapered sliding dovetails. The shelves are joined with through tapered sliding dovetails. The drawers have handcut halfblind dovetails in the front (a first for me) and machine-cut lock-rabbet joints in the back.
The piece is ca. 18" wide; 29" high. and 6 or 7" deep. Finished with three or four coats of Tried and True Original Wood Finish.
Design or Plan used: My Own Design - strongly influenced by a design in FWW 201
