Your asymetrical design really makes this stand out and is very practical, as you say, for different book sizes. I have wanted to do something similar to this for a while for bath towels in the bathroom. I want to make the cubbies small enough to hold a rolled up towel. By changing the towel colors, you can easily change the decoration in the room (red and green for Chrismas, red, white, and blue for fourth of July, etc.).

Can you tell me how the case is attached to the wall? I would think there would need to be lots of attachement points to bear that much weight.

Too many people just follow plans when they should learn how to lay out a project to fit the needs of the space it goes into. I would be quite interested in a few more details of the construction !
