This tool and storage cabinet was a concept that originally started with a base cabinet of drawers then slowly evolved into a cabinet on a cabinet. The door on the lower cabinet and internal drawers were added in the final design phase.  A frame and panel construction was used for both upper and lower cabinets.  Except for the panels and drawer components the cabinet is made entirely of Pine and was finished natural with an oil-based polyurethane varnish.   The entire project started from a SketchUp drawing as seen in the last photo.

goodguy goodguy writes: Very neat, functional and practical design. Haughty xylophiles sometimes ignore practical pine as splendid material and paint as a durable fine finish. Using renewable domestic resources is not "cheap" in the bad sense, but it is sensible, both for the builder / user and the environment too. This is not ostentatious, but very nice!
