This is a set of nightstand lamps I made as a wedding present for some friends. At the time I had no powertools except for a handheld drill, no workbench, and a somewhat dull plane. Planing the maple on the floor with a doorframe as a bench dog was, well, interesting. I have since upgraded my shop.

Design or Plan used: seen in a gallery in Seattle a long time ago...

The screen (tube) is just a nice Japanese paper from a store here in Toronto. I thought about using a fire retardant but the nice ladies in the paper shop didn't think that was really necessary. I did use of of the newer eco bulbs that run cooler. There's about an inch or so between the bulb and the screen and all the heat can escape unhindered upwards.

Cheers,

Lars
