Aging the fresh cut on the leg bracket
Carving the knot pattern in the trestle

The wood for the Iron table  top was found lodged in a pile of driftwood on a riverbank.  It was a 15'x3"x12" my wife & I lugged back to our campsite.  The rest was from various other findings across the prairies. The joinery (all mortise and tenon) was tricky since all of the legs had splits and were twisted somewhat, but it all came together in the end.

also, how does your wife feel about lugging a 15' piece of wood to a campsite? sounds like something i'd ask of my wife, too. she once helped me load about 35 16' 100y/o 2x4's into a small suv and then drove back home 25mph the whole way so the load didn't tip or fall out.

thanks God for patient and understanding woodworker wives!
