Two of the 14 hand-carved brackets, combined here for full-length clothes on left, half-length clothes on right, and shelves above with beaded edges.
Side view of an upper shelf bracket, painted and glazed to show depth.  Features a moulded wall plaque for mounting and a colonnade above a carved scroll resting on a Gothic support.
Complete installation, except second double bracket not visible on left, and one upper bracket not visible behind cabinet on right.  Full size image here.
Both double brackets, showing full- and half-length hanging areas, moulded return on smaller shelf, and lower brackets without shelf support arms and colonnade.
Close up of unfinished bracket, showing grain orientation in critical rod support area and colonnade coves in upper arm.

These brackets and shelves were made from recycled pine.  Our 1906 house had a simple Jelly Cabinet in the basement that was rotting at the base and falling apart.  I salvaged what I could and stored it for a couple of years.  Currently, we are remodelling our master bedroom closet, and I decided to carve some scroll brackets.  Everything was recycled except the rods and finials.  Even the mounting screws were salvaged from an old set of shelf standards.  Complete construction notes here.
