Savaronola (X) Chair

Many years ago I visited the Uffizi museum in Florence, Italy. I loved the look of this chair but waited many years before building it. (The original photo is Image 3). I recorded no dimensions at the time so I used Adobe Illustrator to make a drawing and referenced other chairs for dimensions. After making it, I felt it needed modification to be more comfortable. I rremoved two "X" components and tilted the back 10 deg. This made the chair less massive and more comfortable to sit in. Made entirely of Poplar. Stained with Zar "Moorish Teak" oil stain and Tung Oil finish.
