This was built for a friend of my fiance for her son.  She wanted a pirate like chest for his toys.  It was origianlly supposed to be made and given to him on his birthday but after getting into the project it was a little more too it than just throwing it together.  I made it out of white pine 1x6's. The diminsions are 21 1/2 in from the bottom of the box to top of the hood, 17 1/4 in wide, and 36 1/8 in long. The stain used is a red Mohogony with a polyurethane satin finish.  The handles are soft rope, and I added two safty supports for the lid so that her son wouldn't smash his fingers or any other part of himself.
