Daughters woodworking bench

The lumber for this project was obtained from a 1906 building in downtown Sandpoint,ID. The structure was revamped several years ago and the "scrap" lumber was scheduled to be burned. My fire chief was able to salvage most of the material and I acquired about 2500 BF of Doug Fir and Western Larch. With my Daughters 6th birthday in mind, I crafted this workbench with mortise and tenon jointery, 2 1/2 " thick top, and small drawer all custom sized to accomodate a child's height. She is already reclaiming lumber from my scrap pile, making her a fourth generation woodworker in our family.

It's a really nice bench, and a great gift idea for a child.
Were I child I think I'd especially love that drawer, "for all my tools."
