The pattern is Arabic, not Chinese, but it makes me think of Chinese Checkers which was a German game anyway.
The drawer guide is padauk, the joints are chinese.

I was walking down W. 22nd Street in Manhattan on my way to work and walked by four dumpsters filled with sheetrock scraps, 2X4's, empty joint compound buckets and a few hundred square feet of beautiful walnut flooring. I grabbed a coworker and a couple big rolling bins and we took every scrap. We were making stuff out of the stuff for months. I need to find another dumpster like that...

My girl and i went through a heavy bout of Chinese Checkers mania and I made this so we could sit on the floor and play. The set lives in the giving drawer, a through drawer with no handles so the person on the other side has to push it towards you.
