my new workbench.  all very nice hard maple with slow consistent growth.  some boards had 30 growth rings per inch.  Frank Klausz style tail vise with ipe runners.  twin screw german front vise.  must weigh around 350 lbs.  top boards were cut up into quartersawn stock in october and milled and glued in march.  very solid and a pleasure to use.

I'm building a similar design and am concerned about the balance with the base so far to the left.

Go to Fine Woodworking, WHERE ELSE, No. 53 July August 1985 for plans of Franks workbench. I've enjoyed mine for more than 20 years--Ken
