Ipe and Mahogany Side Table
comments (3) April 29th, 2009 in Reader's Gallery
This is a table I made of Ipe and Mahogany scraps that were being thrown out on a jobsite I was working at. The top ,legs, and shelf are mahogany. The bottom stringers are Ipe. The lower shelf "flaots" on four pegs that leave a 1/4 gap all the way around.

I'm in the process of building a small side table out of ipe that a friend ripped up as part of a deck remodeling project.
he thought it was mahogany but my surface planner blade told another story,LOL.
My only concern is what type of fiish to use?
What stain and finish worked for you?

Just to think, you took wood being discarded,
and created a piece of art!
Great work, Way to go!!!
