Thats me with my wife and best friend.
The seat is carved from one piece of Burmese teak that was cut and rotated to form the center seam and matched grain patterns from side to side.
There are currently 16 species of wood from around the world incorporated in this bike. The primary wood is lace wood.  The gas cap is koa, and yes there is even some ironwood from Sonora, Mexico, that was sent to me by an admirer who saw the bike the first time that I showed it in Daytona.
The fins were inspired by the cars of the 50s.  It took around 1500 hours to complete this project.  I did have some help with the welding from my friend Robin , who has since passed and the motor was built by my friendSpud.  It is registered, street legal and for sale.  Serious inquiries only to goldenmountain@mindspring.com

This is a 1200 Harley Davidson "Sportster" based motorcycle.  It has won several awards from Daytona to Miami and apeared on "American Thunder" when it was first shown at Daytona.  There are aproximately 40 coats of marine grade urethane clear on all the wooden parts.  I hope that you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed building this bike.  If the publisher is seeing this, I would love to get "Ironwood" featured in Fine Woodworking.
