I learned to make oval boxes at Canterbury Shaker Village in New Hampshire, and I've made well more than 100 of them in various forms. This would not have been possible without John Wilson of Charlotte, MI. He sells veneer-sliced bands for the sides of boxes and beautiful 1/4" quartersawn stock for tops and bottoms. He also sells tools and forms, makes self-hooking copper nails in various sizes, and teaches oval box classes both in Michigan and on the road. You can learn more about him and this craft at www.shakerovalbox.com.
