Shaker step stool, cherry

A close reproduction of a stool in John Shea's book, "Making Authentic Shaker Furniture." I've made three or four of these and worry about anyone ever standing on the top step. It's a long way up without much base beneath you. The back slat is attached by half-blind dovetails inserted cross-grain into the sides. The finish is a mixture of tung oil, boiled linseed oil and varnish rubbed on with fine steel wool.
Design or Plan used: Traditional Shaker design
