Made for a friend who has too many fishing flies, it has three adjustable shelves inside. Joined at the corners with through dovetails. The door is one piece of 1/2" cherry, and to keep it from cupping there are three one-inch wide sliding dovetail strips running crosswise in the door's back side. They're unglued and attached at the middle with a cut brad to allow for seasonal movement. At first I thought I'd be clever by drying the strips in the oven so they could expand a little in the dovetail slots for a nice tight fit. But they expanded so much they actually bent the door along the vertical axis. I had to cut them out and use strips whose moisture content matched the door's. Finished with a first coat of Minwax Antique Oil Finish, followed by several coats of tung oil, boiled linseed and varnish, hand rubbed with 0000 steel wool.
