These small boxes are used as generic pieces of magician's apparatus in a number of tricks.  On the left is a Luan watch box in which a borrowed watch locked in the box vanishes and reappears in another location at the whim of the performer.  In the middle is a coin box fashioned of walnut.  Initially shown empty, a vanished coin subsequently appears in the box.  On the right is a persimmon card box.  Here a card placed in the box changes to one of another value when the box is reopened.
