I was playing with some ideas for gift boxes and tried my hand at designing these in the Greene and Greene style.  They are joined with proud finger joints, the bottom incorporates cloud lifts, and the bread board top are splined with ebonized  maple.  I made one in mahogany, and several in both walnut and cherry.  The finish is tung oil and garnet shellac, rubbed to a satin sheen.
