This chest over drawers was inspired by a wildly-painted piece that was signed and dated 1830.  White pine throughout, but painted with shop made oil paint and glaze to resemble curly cherry. The original had a coarse faux burl finish, but I decided to soften the look a bit.

Like any good faux surface, it won't fool you if you look at it from a close distance, but from five or six feet away the effect is very nice. Makes $2 a board foot white pine look significantly more expensive.

Deep chest over two drawers. 40-in x 40-in x 19-in deep. Pulls and hinges from Londonderry Brasses.
