My second project is this occasional/nightstand table approximately 20wx16dx26h. The top is Brazillian Cherry and the base and drawer are all African Bees Wing Mahagony. I reversed direction on the two top boards to create the swirl and assembled with T&G. All edges are routed with various patterns and assembeled with M&T. The lower shelf has a banded inlay of Purple Heart, the drawer knob center is also Purple Heart and the drawer is on metal glides. My first multi piece inlay on the top are two lilies with leaves in Red and Purple Heart and Bolivian Rosewood stem. The finish throughout is Watco Danish natural oil and the top has 6 coats of laquer over that for protection. The lacquer I sanded with 1400 grit and then polished with a Meguiars cream to give the top a soft luster. The closer photo of the inlay has not been polished down yet, it is still glossy from the laquer. And yes, the inlay is not perfect but I am learning and loving it.
