A simple mahogany book cabinet that combines both open and closed storage. The piece is constructed with mortise and tenon joined panel frames. The mahogany front posts are concave in two planes over their length. The arched rails are mahogany.

Side and back panels are shop-made, mahogany plywood consisting of a 1/4" birch core sandwiched between two 1/8" mahagony skins and vacuum pressed.  The shelves and horizonal surfaces are similarly constructed around 3/4" birch cores and fronted with shaped pieces of solid mahogany that mimic the concave front posts. The bottom back edge of each shelf is fitted with an arched mahogany strongback to prevent sagging.

The bypass door panels glide on rabbited edges fitted into mahogany rails. The piece is 67" tall x 42" wide x 15" deep and finished with multiple coats of poly.
