My wife made a cutting board using some scraps I picked up at the local Hicksville Planing Mill near Hagerstown, MD.  After she cut the board to length, I used the leftover piece of scrap to create my pinewood derby car this year (the adult's race).  I inlayed the cut off strip in the middle of the pine block and then cut to shape with a coping saw (because I don't have a bandsaw).

dennhy dennhy writes: Nice. I made my "pinewood" derby car out of zebra wood. It was gorgeous, but didn't stand a chance of winning because zebra wood is so much more denser that pine. For faster cars it's best to put a lot of weight in the rear. Pine allows you to do this.
